Cloxide™ in Water Systems

Activated Cloxide™ is a powerful oxidising biocide that will destroy Bacteria, Viruses, Fungi and Spores. These organisms cannot develop a resistance, allowing dosing to be carried out continuously. This is important in potable, process and cooling waters.

• Cloxide™ strips out biofilm (the slimy, bacterial coating you feel when you run your finger down the side of an untreated water tank) thereby removing the protection given to the pathogens which normally inhabit and multiply therein. The benefit of this cleaning process extends to all systems wherever there is a requirement for water e.g- Ice making machines, vending machines…etc.

• Cloxide™ will destroy amoebae, which are major carriers of Legionella.

• Cloxide™ eradicates Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Cryptosporidium is lethal to humans affected by Aids, or other conditions which result in compromised immune systems. It is important for these people to drink safe, treated water.

• Cloxide™ will destroy sulphate reducing bacteria, which rapidly populate untreated water systems, and the aerobic and anaerobic bacteria present in biofilms. Elimination of the bacteria will substantially reduce corrosion.

• Cloxide™ will substantially improve efficiency by removing the biofilm from heat exchanges surfaces, pipes and nozzles. This will improve circulation rates and reduce blockages. Additionally, as scale interlocks with the biofilm the removal of the slime also assists in the removal of the scale.

• Ice-making Machines and Vending Machines are very difficult to clean internally and as a result these units can be the source of serious infections. Cloxide™ will ensure the internal surfaces of these units are kept clean and infection free.

• Cloxide™ will react with Chlorine in water and will reduce the unpleasant taste, odour and irritations associated with chlorine, particularly in its use in showers and therapeutic baths.

• In addition to the benefits outlined above, the controlled activation of Cloxide™ will provide an immediate powerful disinfectant, whilst also leaving a long lasting residual. This residual provides essential protection in dead legs and in those parts of the distribution system which are periodically closed down- e.g. over weekends or for longer periods.
