Latest Legionella News
Legionnaires' disease is a large issue both in the UK and worldwide. It is generally contracted via the inhalation of aerosolized water droplets containing Legionella bacteria. This bacteria can breed rapidly in water systems where inadequate temperature or chemical control measures are in place.
All businesses have an obligation to take the correct measures to protect their staff, customers and the public against the risk of Legionnaires disease. The Code of Practice and Guidance called L8 was designed to help businesses meet their legal obligations.
News stories about Legionella contamination or outbreaks of Legionnaires' disease have become increasingly common. In many cases the companies involved have been found to be negligent and have faced prosecution. In the worst cases many people have died.
